Somers earned her second NEC Swimmer & Rookie of the Week award after a record-setting weekend in the poll. The freshman posted four victories as Sacred Heart defeated Holy Cross for the first time, breaking four pool records with three coming in individual events. Somers swam the 200 freestyle in 1:54.70, the best event time in the league this year. Somers then broke pool records by swimming the 100 freestyle in 52.67 and the 50 free in 24.50. She also swam the first leg of Sacred Heart’s 200 freestyle relay in 24.57 to set the table for the Pioneers’ win in a pool record time of 1:38.95.
