WEEK 9 STATS: 10 receptions, 184 receiving yards, 3 TD, 18.4 ypc
Lewis’ big-play ability was on display again as the Red Flash totaled 517 yards of offense at Sacred Heart. Eclipsing the 120-yard receiving mark for the fifth time in his last six games, the sophomore pass-catcher hauled in 10 balls for 184 yards and three touchdowns during the 38-17 road victory that moved SFU to 4-0 in conference play. The 6-foot-4 Lewis quickly turned a 17-17 tie into a 21-point advantage by scoring three unanswered touchdowns over a 10:10 duration that bridged the third and fourth quarters. Five plays after converting a 2nd-and-8 with a 25-yard reception, Lewis capped the tie-breaking touchdown drive by hauling in a 5-yard scoring strike from Zach Drayer with 4:59 remaining in the third quarter. He doubled the Flash’s lead with 2:52 into the fourth quarter when he scored on a 7-yard pass play. Saint Francis added some insurance on its next possession when Lewis alone went 80 yards on two plays. With the Flash holding a 31-17 edge, the sophomore receiver made a 7-yard reception followed by a 73-yard sprint to paydirt. Earlier, Lewis accounted for an explosive play with a 34-yard gain that brought the ball into SHU territory of the Flash’s final possession of the first half.
