WEEK 8 STATS: 5 total tackles (4 solo), 1 PBU, 1 INT
Wells spearheaded a SFU defense that grounded the NEC’s top-ranked passing attack for the second week in a row. The junior defensive back totaled five stops (4 solo), one pass break-up and one interception as the Red Flash limited Duquesne to a season-low 150 yards passing. Wells successfully defended two passes at key points during the fourth quarter. With SFU facing a 10-7 deficit midway through the final quarter, Wells broke up a pass on a 2nd-and-11 play and the Dukes were forced to punt two snaps later. Looking to protect the Red Flash’s 14-10 lead in the game’s final minute, Wells stepped in front of a pass from Dillon Buechel and made a victory-clinching interception at the SFU 19-yard line.
