WEEK 8 STATS: 4 receptions, 135 receiving yards, 33.8 ypc
Lewis used his big-play ability to spark both touchdown drives during Saint Francis’ 14-10 victory over defending NEC champion Duquesne. Averaging 33.8 yards per catch, the sophomore receiver pulled in four passes for 135 yards and eclipsed the 120-yard mark for the fourth time in his past five games. The 6-foot-4 California product helped the Red Flash find paydirt on their final possessions of the second and fourth quarters. With the Flash facing a 3-0 deficit and backed up on their own 16-yardline late in the first half, Lewis beat the Duquesne secondary deep down the right sideline for an 83-yard gain down to the 1. SFU scored the go-ahead touchdown one play later. Saint Francis’ sophomore receiver came through again with Saint Francis facing a 3rd-and-12 situation from its own 35-yard line and fewer than 5:00 remaining on the clock. Lewis hauled in a pass over the middle, taking it 22 yards to the Duquesne 43 and allowing the eventual game-winning drive to continue. Lewis, who ranks fourth amongst Division I FCS leaders in receiving yards (854) this season, recorded first downs on all four of his catches against Duquesne. His 21-yard first-quarter reception moved the Flash into Duquesne territory for the first time. He added a 9-yard catch that converted 3rd-and-4 late in third quarter.
