WEEK 6 STATS: 10 total tackles (8 solo), 2.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 2 INT, 2 PBU
In between his game-opening kickoff return and 48-yard touchdown reception, Jerome spent time spearheading Saint Francis’ suffocating defensive effort at Keystone State rival Robert Morris. Only days after being named to the STATS Inc FCS National Defensive Player of the Year Watch List, the senior safety logged 10 tackles (including 2.5 hits for loss), 1.5 sacks, two interceptions and two pass break-ups in a 24-10 road win. Jerome, who recorded eight solo stops, added to his FCS career lead in interceptions (amongst active players) by picking off two passes inside of SFU’s 20-yard line. With SFU holding a 3-0 edge midway through the first quarter, the native Floridian made his first interception of the day at the SFU 15-yard line on what was a 2nd-and-7 play for RMU. Helping preserve a 17-3 advantage early on in the fourth quarter, Jerome snagged an errant pass out of the air at the SFU 2. A key reason why the Red Flash did not permit an offensive touchdown while limiting the Colonials to 108 yards of total offense, Jerome also tallied 52 yards from scrimmage when lining up in the SFU backfield on the other side of the ball. It's the second consecutive week that Jerome has claimed the conference's defensive honor.
