Gioielli wasn’t racing for a record when he contested the UNH Pre-Conference Meet. He had already taken care of that one week earlier when he set CCSU’s 800m program standard (1:50.23) at Princeton’s Larry Ellis Invitational. Using the UNH meet as a tune-up one week ahead of the NEC Outdoor Championships, Gioielli secured a gold medal by clocking in at 1:53.87. In addition to topping the 32-entrant field, Gioielli produced a time that is under the automatic qualifying standard for the IC4A Championships. Gioielli, who owns the league’s top 1500m time this season, ranks second amongst NEC half-milers.
