Hines retained her first-place standing on the NEC’s hammer throw leader board, but she had to reset the FDU program record in order to do so. Becoming the first-ever Knight to hit the 57.00m mark, the Empire State product registered a 57.14m fling to earn a bronze medal at Princeton’s Larry Ellis Invitational. The distance, which tops the qualifying standard for the ECAC Championships by more than 6.00m, moved Hines up into the NCAA Division I East Region Top 35. Thanks to her latest performance, she holds a 12-centimeter lead over Sacred Heart’s Mareena DiMilia for the top spot in the NEC.
