Zeller was stellar for Fairleigh Dickinson in his lone appearance last week, pitching the Knights out of a pickle to earn a victory in the NEC opener against Mount St. Mary’s. Coming into a bases-loaded situation and looking to protect a one-run lead, the rookie right-hander proceeded to twirl 4.0 scoreless frames in a 4-3 win. He allowed only two base runners (one single, one HBP) and did not walk a batter. Summoned from the bullpen with no outs in the fifth inning and the bags juiced, Zeller fanned the first batter he faced before inducing an inning-ending groundball double play. The first-year Knight remained in the game for the next 3.0 innings before handing a 4-3 lead to Ryan Brennan, who tossed a 1-2-3 ninth.
