Hickey reestablished herself as the favorite to capture the NEC outdoor 5,000m crown. Competing at that distance for the first time this outdoor season, the 2016 NEC indoor 5K champion overtook Bryant’s Melissa Lodge for the conference lead. Both Hickey and Lodge contested the 5,000m run on Friday (Apr. 8) at Princeton’s Sam Howell Invitational with the former crossing the line in a 17:17.16. The personal best time places Hickey onto the NCAA Division I East Region Top 100 leader board.
