Kachmar surrendered no earned runs while appearing in two victories last week, including a high-quality start against first-place Bryant. On Saturday, Fairleigh Dickinson’s rookie right-hander fired 6.2 frames of three-hit ball to deal the Bulldogs their only NEC loss thus far this season. Facing a Bryant lineup that entered the four-game series averaging a league-high 6.4 runs per contest, Kachmar fanned 10 batters while working around six walks in a 10-3 victory. It appeared as if Kachmar was well on his way to a complete-game shutout of the preseason NEC favorites until a two-out throwing error derailed his bid in the seventh inning. Prior to his victory over Bryant, which has ascended to the No. 26 spot in the NCAA Division I RPI rankings, Kachmar threw a clean inning of relief in a mid-week victory over MAAC member Siena.
