Phelan opened the spring with a notable fling. The SFU freshman threw the javelin 46.79m (153' 6") at Susquehanna's Jim Taylor Invitational. The mark was good enough for second place, both at the meet and on the NEC leader board. One competition into her first collegiate outdoor season, Phelan has already guaranteed herself a spot at the ECAC Championships in May. She ranks 14th overall on the early-season NCAA Division I East Region performance list.
