Competing outdoors for the first time in a FDU uniform, Ramsey took a commanding early-season lead over his fellow NEC shot putters. The 2016 NEC Indoor champion exceeded 60 feet at the Wake Forest Open. Ramsey put the shot 18.38m (60' 3.75") to finish as the meet's runner-up to Buffalo's Ryan Cribbin. The distance ranks 10th overall on the NCAA Division I East Region performance list and stands more than 2.50m better than the qualifying standard for the IC4A Championships.
