Week 1 Stats: .406 batting average, 3 XBH, 6 RBI, 6 R, .459 OBP
Rinn’s raking has coincided with Bryant’s sizzling hot start to the 2016 season. Helping the Bulldogs win six of seven games against quality competition, Rinn posted a .406 (13-for-32) batting average and reached base safely at a .459 clip. The left-handed hitting first baseman, who earned all-NEC first team honors last year, was sensational at the plate during Bryant’s three-day stay at the Tony Gwynn Classic in San Diego. Batting .667, Rinn produced eight hits (including three doubles), four RBI and four runs scored. He recorded multiple hits and scored at least one run in each of the three games. Rinn drove in three runs with a pair of two-baggers during the Bulldogs’ 10-2 triumph over San Diego State on Friday. He reached base four times (3 singles, 1 walk) in Saturday’s setback to UC Santa Barbara. The 6-foot-2 senior was a driving force behind Sunday’s 7-4 victory over No. 22 Kentucky, going 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run against the SEC member. Rinn has recorded at least one hit or RBI in all seven games this season, having totaled three extra-base hits, six RBI and six runs scored thus far.
