Over the first two weeks of play, Sobieski posted a 2.89 ERA and picked up a pair of complete game victories against LIU's typically challenging non-conference competition. She walked just two batters and struck out 24 in 36.1 innings. In the Blackbirds 6-1 win over Valparaiso on February 13, the sophomore allowed a lone earned run on six hits over seven innings. Sobieski also helped snap a four-game losing streak to CAA power Hofstra, retiring 12 straight batters and allowing just three singles through the first six innings of play with six strikeouts in a 3-2 complete game effort.
