Rodney is ready to defend his 200m title when the NEC Indoor Championships commence later this week (Feb. 19-20). Contesting the 200m dash for the first time this season, the veteran Blackbird flew to a first-place finish and a program record. Logging the fastest time in the world thus far this calendar year, Rodney ran 20.52 to easily top a field of more than 200 competitors at the Boston University Valentine Invitational. Rodney, who set the NEC Indoor Championship meet record last February (21.21), leads LSU’s Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake (20.57) by 0.05 second atop the NCAA Division I leader board.
