Venne secured a ticket to the IC4A Championships in March thanks to his performance at the Akron Invitational. Striking gold in the 800m race, the Red Flash freshman crossed the line in 1:54.16. The winning time, which is 0.34 second better than the IC4A standard, catapulted the Canadian-born Venne into sixth place on the NEC’s season leader board. In what was only his second competition as a collegian, and first contesting the 800m, Venne produced the eight-fastest time in SFU history.
