Gioielli broke a program record for the second consecutive week. After smashing Brian Biekert’s mark in the mile at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational (Jan. 29), the middle distance extraodinaire topped the 1,000m record that he first set back in 2013. Earning his fourth gold medal of the winter season, Gioielli out-classed the 1,000m field at Boston University’s Scarlet and White Open. He crossed the line in 2:23.24, more than 5.0 seconds faster than the qualifying standard for the IC4A Championships and 0.15 second better than his previous personal best. Gioielli ranks second overall on the IC4A leader board in the 1,000m run.
