WEEK 12 STATS: 18.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.5 spg, .933 FT pct.
Kovatch continued to score at an unprecedented pace for a NEC freshman last week. The rookie guard, who has scored no fewer than 16 points in any of her last eight outings, averaged 18.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per contest. Despite struggling shooting from the field at times, Kovatch was sensational from the charity stripe where she made 93.3 percent of her freebies. The leading freshman scorer in all of NCAA Division I (22.7 ppg) recorded her 15th 20-point game of the season, totaling a game-high 21 points in a 62-54 victory over NEC preseason favorite Robert Morris. The 21-point performance against the Keystone State rival Colonials included a 12-for-13 clip from the line. Two days later, she tallied 16 points in 31 minutes as the Flash dropped a 73-72 decision on the road at Fairleigh Dickinson. Kovatch secured the NEC Rookie of the Week award back on November 23, 2015 and hasn’t surrendered it since. Her 11 consecutive weekly honors break a nine-year old conference record for most rookie awards in a single-season.
