Gioielli grabbed his third gold medal in as many weeks. Trimming nearly 3.0 seconds off his seasonal best, the third-year Blue Devil raced to a first-place finish in the 800m run at the Joe Donahue Games in Roxbury, MA. Topping a field of 38 runners at the Reggie Lewis Center, Gioielli clocked in at 1:51.50 to overtake Sacred Heart’s Trevor Guerrera (1:53.12) for the Northeast Conference event lead. Gioielli’s latest time moved the Nutmeg State product up to the No. 38 spot on the NCAA Division I leader board. Standing way under the qualifying standard for the IC4A Championships, his top performance ranks seventh amongst automatic qualfiers for the regional meet.
