Cummiskey’s first year competing for St. Francis Brooklyn has made for a remarkable story. Taking up competitive distance running for the first time in her life, the sophomore raced her way to the NEC Freshman Performer of the Year award during the cross-country season and is now making her presence felt on the track. Contesting the Great Dane Classic, Cummiskey recorded the conference’s second-fastest 5,000m time (17:44.53). The Garden State product, who was a student at McGill University in Montreal last year, sits only 0.20 second behind NEC leader Alexandra Kaeslin and owns the No. 15 spot on the ECAC regional performance list.
