Kovatch opened the conference play portion of the Red Flash’s schedule by posting the fourth 30-point performance of her rookie season. Shooting 56.5 percent from the field, the freshman guard needed only 27 minutes of floor time to pour in 35 points during Saint Francis’ 64-44 victory over Wagner. In addition to setting her new single-game scoring high, Kovtach pulled down five rebounds and dished out three assists as part of the winning effort. The Red Flash rookie was plagued by foul trouble two days later in a setback to Sacred Heart, but she still managed to make her presence felt. Logging 23 minutes on the floor, Kovatch contributed eight points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals in an 81-77 defeat. For the two-game span, the Garden State product averaged 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per outing. Averaging 22.4 points per contest for the season, Kovatch ranks first amongst all Division I freshmen scorers. The NEC Rookie of the Week award is the seventh in a row for Kovatch, who pulls into a tie with former SHU Pioneer Amanda Pape for third-most weekly rookie awards in a season.
