Hermannsson scored 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds, tallied three assists and added two steals in LIU Brooklyn’s 66-59 victory over Incarnate Word at Barclays Center last Tuesday. Facing a team coming off a 22-point road triumph over St. John’s, Hermannsson was the catalyst in a win that allowed the Blackbirds to clinch a winning non-league record for the first time since the 2010-11 season. Hermannsson scored 11 of his points after intermission, including the game’s key bucket, a reverse layup with under two minutes remaining that ended a 7-0 run by the Cardinals and gave the Blackbirds a five-point lead. The native of Iceland is ranked sixth in the NEC in scoring at 14.9 points per game, and also ranks in the top-10 in assists (3.9, fifth), free throw percentage (.849, fourth), steals (1.4, eighth) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.70, third).
