Jones unseated last week’s NEC track honoree (Genamarie McCant - MSM) for the top spot on the league’s 500m leader board. The Canadian-born Blackbird flew to a second-place finish at the sixth annual Bill Ward Invitational in 1:14.85. When it’s converted for track size, the time shrinks to 1:13.91 and stands as the second-fastest on the ECAC regional performance list (only St. John’s Pariis Garcia owns a better mark). Only one meet into her LIU Brooklyn career, Jones has established herself as a NEC title contender in the 500m dash.
