Lukosius’ consistency was a key factor in LIU Brooklyn’s fourth-place team finish at the talent-loaded Kat Klash. The third-year Blackbird was steady throughout the three-day tournament, posting nearly identical frame averages each day. Lukosius averaged 19.56 pins per frame for the entire event, which featured seven teams ranked in the National Top 25. Occupying the leadoff position in LIU’s lineup for much of the weekend, the Garden State product filled frames at a team-leading .879 rate. She left only 16 opens, ten of which came on splits, during 131 frames bowled throughout the weekend. Her strike ball was on point more than 43 percent of the time as she threw 60 strikes in 138 chances. Accounting for a 195.4 game average during Saturday’s traditional team competition, Lukosius helped LIU Brooklyn to victories over Southern and Jackson State. She unleashed a 226 high game against No. 9 Central Missouri in the final match of the day, but the Blackbirds came up 20 pins short of a victory. Combining with anchor bowler Alyssa Balicki, Lukosius was a driving force behind the Blackbirds’ two best-of-7 baker victories on Sunday. Helping LIU to wins over No. 8 Stephen F. Austin and No. 24 Adelphi, Lukosius made a habit of filling the sixth frame and setting the team up for strong finishes.
