WEEK 12 STATS: 171 yards from scrimmage, 3 rush TD, 5.9 ypc
Douglas carried the load for the Duquesne rushing attack during the 30-20 title-clinching victory over rival Saint Francis. The hard-running sophomore rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries. Douglas, who also logged a 6-yard reception, compiled more yards from scrimmage (171) than all NEC players in Week 12. Averaging 5.9 yards per attempt, Douglas found paydirt in the second, third and fourth quarters. One snap after his 12-yard rush that moved the ball down to the SFU 2, Douglas opened the scoring for Duquesne only 59 seconds into the second quarter. The second-year Duke carried seven times for 35 yards on the team’s opening possession of the second half, capping the drive with a 3-yard touchdown run that extended the lead to 23-14. Douglas ripped off a 50-yard run of Duquesne’s second snap of the fourth quarter and eventually finished the drive off with a 6-yard scoring scamper. The 165-yard rushing performance stands as the seventh-highest output in a NEC game this season. Douglas owns three of the top-seven marks.
