Smith was the epitome of consistency during the first of two Northeast Conference regular season meets. Powering the Pioneers to a league-leading 7-3 record, the rookie right-hander posted a conference-high .900 filled frames percentage. Thanks to her accurate spare shooting, Smith left only 10 open frames over the course of 10 matches. She converted 91 percent of her non-split spare attempts and according to head coach Becky Kregling, Smith’s efficiency “helped the team immensely.” Only one of two SHU players to bowl all 100 possible frames during the two-day competition, Smith posted a 19.38 overall frame average. She produced a 190 game average during Saturday’s traditional team matches, exceeding the 200-pin mark twice in five contests. Smith shot a 209 to help the Pioneers move past St. Francis Brooklyn. Her 201-pin performance made her a key contributor to Sacred Heart’s victory over No. 4 Fairleigh Dickinson. She was sensational during Sunday’s quint-baker competition, averaging 19.78 pins per baker frame.
