Smith’s sensational senior campaign continued with a record-setting day against Sacred Heart. The 6-foot veteran pass-catcher made the most of his two receptions in the 23-14 victory over the two-time defending NEC champions. Smith gained 162 yards and accounted for both of the Red Flash’s touchdowns in the win, which kept SFU within one-half game of first place. He turned a 7-3 deficit into a 10-7 advantage in the opening minutes of the second half, taking a pass 64 yards to paydirt. Smith struck again with Saint Francis facing a 14-13 deficit later in the third quarter, producing the go-ahead score on the longest pass play (98 yards) in program history. His 19.3 yards per catch average leads the NEC.
