WEEK 8 STATS: 203 yards from scrimmage, team season highs in rush attempts (32) and rush yards (172)
Douglas was the lone Northeast Conference player to record at least 200 yards from scrimmage this week. The sophomore running back piled up a career-best 172 rush yards and added season-high 31 yards receiving in the NEC’s annual Steel City Showdown. Helping the Dukes grind out a 16-7 road win over Robert Morris, Douglas carried 32 times to the tune of 5.4 yards per attempt. Setting single-game season highs amongst Duquesne ball carriers in rush attempts and rush yards, he was a key reason why the Dukes won the time of possession battle and controlled the flow of the game. He sparked Duquesne’s second scoring drive by exploding for a 26-yard gain into RMU territory on 1st-and-10. With the Dukes looking to protect a 16-7 fourth-quarter lead and chew up clock, Douglas powered a 10-play drive that lasted more than 5:00 by gaining 60 yards on the ground. Two of his four receptions allowed Duquesne to successfully convert third down opportunities. Douglas’ 11-yard reception in a 3rd-and-8 situation allowed the Dukes to extend a third-quarter drive that would end with the go-ahead field goal. His first catch of the day came on a 3rd-and-4 play in the first quarter and resulted in a 19-yard gain.
