WEEK 7 STATS: 6 punts, 44.0 punt avg., 3 Inside 20, 0 touchbacks
Ross showed why he continues to lead the NEC in punting this season. His performance during Sacred Heart’s 31-6 triumph over Ivy Leaguer Cornell was as good as any the fifth-year senior has had this season. Ross punted six times against the Big Red, compiling a 44.0 yards per kick average. He placed three of his six kicks inside of the opponents’ 20-yard line without registering a single touchback. Only two of Ross’ six punts were returned for a small total of six yards. The veteran punter netted 46 yards on his lone attempt of the first quarter. With SHU protecting a 10-6 second-quarter advantage, Ross boomed a 64-yard punt that was downed at the Cornell 4. The 6-foot-3 punter produced a 45-yard net on his final attempt of the first half, pinning Cornell inside its own 20 with 00:51 remaining before the break.
