WEEK 7 STATS: 67.5 completion pct., 330 pass yards, 4 pass TD, 2 rush yards
Easton engineered a 38-17 victory over Duquesne in what was a battle of the top-two teams from the NEC preseason coaches’ poll. The second-year starting signal caller completed 67.5 percent of his passes for a NEC single-game season-high 330 yards and four touchdowns. Going up against a defense that allowed only five passing touchdowns over the season’s first six games, Easton fired four scoring strikes to four different receivers. Easton, who was intercepted once under pressure, avoided being sacked by a Duquesne unit that entered the game as the NEC team leader in quarterback takedowns. The 6-foot quarterback opened the game’s scoring when he capped the Bulldogs’ first possession by finding Chad Ward for a 3-yard touchdown pass on a 3rd-and-Goal play. He struck again right before halftime, hooking up with Taylor Barthelette on a 14-yard scoring strike that gave the Bulldogs’ a 17-7 lead heading into the break. Easton was again efficient on Bryant’s first possession of the second half, completing all three of his pass attempts and capping the 65-yard march with a 22-yard touchdown toss to Jose Depadua.
