WEEK 5 STATS: 123 rush yds, 2 TD
Claridy’s career day was a key factor in Duquesne’s 27-10 victory over Central Connecticut. Chewing up clock and moving the chains, Claridy carried 25 times for a career-high 123 yards and two touchdowns in what was the NEC opener for both teams. The senior running back catapulted the Dukes out to a 14-0 lead with a pair of first-quarter touchdown runs. He rushed five times during Duquesne’s second possession of the game and eventually opened the scoring on a 2-yard run. With the Dukes holding a 7-0 lead and facing a 1st-and-10 at CCSU’s 16-yard line, Claridy carried the rock on three consecutive plays and capped the drive with a one-yard plunge to pay dirt. Playing the role of a workhorse, the native Texan had carries of 7, 5 and 11 yards on a third-quarter drive that ended with a field goal.
