Francis de Vries, the reigning NEC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Year, put his offensive skills on display this past weekend after scoring a pair of goals in two Red Flash victories over Bucknell and Niagara. On Friday against Bucknell, de Vries sent home a shot off of a corner kick to cement the 3-1 victory. Against Niagara on Sunday, the junior rocketed a free kick from just outside the 18 into the top-right corner to seal the 2-0 Red Flash win. In addition to his offense, de Vries helped to anchor a back line that held the Bison to just one goal and the Purple Eagles to just four total shots.
