Smith produced a personal-best, program record-setting performance to repeat as the NEC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Adding to her lead over the NEC in the shot put, Smith tossed the implement 15.53m (50’ 11.5”) to secure a gold medal at Yale’s second annual Mark Young Invitational. The winning mark, which pushed Smith into the Top 20 on the Division I regional leader board, broke the SHU record that Smith set at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor East Region Championships. Accounting for another personal best, Smith also finished first in the hammer throw competition at Yale. She topped her previous PR by more than nine feet and moved into second place in the NEC as a result.
