DeRienzo collects her second straight NEC Player of the Week honor after posting a 2-1 mark at #1 singles, highlighted by a 6-2, 6-4 win over reigning NEC Player of the Year Sanne Louwers of LIU Brooklyn last Tuesday. That singles win, along with a #1 doubles victory with teammate Sabrina Navarro, helped spark the Pioneers to a 6-1 win over a Blackbird team that enters the NEC Tournament as the #1 seed. DeRienzo also posted a 7-6, 6-0 triumph over All-MAAC performer Allison Radde in SHU’s 4-3 win over local rival Fairfield on Monday. Her lone setback on the week came against UMass star Ana Urazusta, who has won 14 of her last 15 matches. The Douglaston, NY native leads the NEC with 19 wins on the year against just five setbacks, including an 11-2 mark in #1 singles.
