Running conditions have been far from ideal this outdoor season, but they haven’t stopped Galligan from surging to the NEC lead in the 5,000m run. En-route to capturing the bronze medal at Richmond’s Fred Hardy Invitational, the senior distance runner completed the 5K in 18:04.50. Galligan trimmed nearly 16 seconds off the season-opening time she ran at the Wake Forest Open one week earlier. She leads the NEC by more than 10 seconds, but is still shy of the time (17:59.68) that landed her fifth at the 2014 NEC Outdoor Championships.
