Hummel keeps the NEC Rookie of the Week award in Red Flash hands. Claiming the honor that SFU sprinter Daniel Meyer held last week, Hummel is coming off his best javelin performance yet. Improving upon his season-opening mark from the Wake Forest Open, Hummel threw the implement 52.43m (172’) to claim third place at the Maryland Invitational. The distance places Hummel second on the early-season NEC leader board.
