Roman’s clutch hitting was a key reason why Fairleigh Dickinson was 3-0 last week, winning a trio of one-run ballgames. He came on as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning of Fairleigh Dickinson’s eventual 6-5 victory over MAAC member Saint Peter’s. Roman delivered a run-scoring, pinch-hit single to bring the Knights within 3-2. Staying on to play third base, he also delivered a base knock during a four-run rally that saw FDU erase a 5-2 deficit in the eighth inning. The Nutmeg State product earned a start as the designated hitter in the first half of a doubleheader against Patriot League member Lehigh and went on to account for some late-game heroics in a 2-1 victory. The 5-foot8 infielder belted a two-run bomb in the seventh inning, putting FDU in position for the win and breaking up a no-hitter in the process. Roman closed out his week with a pinch-hit appearance during the second half of Sunday’s double dip against the Mountain Hawks. He entered the game in the fifth inning and reached base by taking a hit by pitch. Slugging 1.200 for the week, he went 3-for-5 at the plate with one homer, three RBI and two runs scored.
