Mitchell’s early-season performance suggests he’ll be in the mix for a NEC title in one of the conference’s most-competitive events. The veteran sprinter ran to victory in the 60m dash at the annual MAC Classic. Competing in his home state of New Jersey, Mitchell clocked in at 6.99 to top a field of 21 entrants at the Jersey Shore. Mitchell, who won silver at the 2014 NEC Indoor Championships, was 0.01 second shy of becoming the fourth NEC sprinter to earn an automatic bid to the IC4A Championships in the 60m dash.
