Bailey has burst onto the scene during her first month competing at the collegiate level. Upping her scoring average, which currently leads all NEC rookies, the 5-foot-7 freshman accounted for 18.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game last week. Bailey tallied a team-high 19 points to power Bryant past Patriot League member Holy Cross in the first of two games on the week’s schedule. Three of her six field goals in the 74-68 victory came from downtown, including a 3-pointer that bumped the Bulldogs’ advantage to five points with 1:46 remaining in regulation. Bailey, who went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe, added a pair of free throws with 00:20 remaining to help salt away the team’s sixth win of the season. Bailey led the team in scoring for the second game in a row, netting 18 points in a last-second road loss to Cornell. With the Bulldogs looking to move to 2-0 against Ivy League foes, the freshman guard stormed out of the gate by scoring 11 points over the first 6:22 as Bryant took an 18-8 advantage. After watching Bailey score 16 first-half points, Cornell found a way to quiet her in the second stanza. Bailey took only one field goal attempt and sank two free throws over the final 20:00 of the 66-64 setback. For the week, Bailey shot 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from three-point range and converted free throws at an .889 clip (8-of-9).
