Finelli contributed to a defensive effort that limited Wagner to 142 yards of offense in a 23-7 road win. The rookie safety made five tackles and broke up two passes as part of the top team defensive performance (in terms of yards allowed) during NEC play this season. The first-year Pioneer’s third-down tackle at the SHU 10-yard line forced Wagner into a field goal attempt midway through the opening quarter. He logged one of his two pass break-ups on a 2nd-and-8 play in the third quarter, leading to one of Wagner’s 10 punts in the game. He also made a tackle in kickoff coverage, limiting Wagner’s return man to a 6-yard gain.
