WEEK 8 STATS: 8 total tackles (5 solo), 1.0 sack, FF, FR, PBU, 2 QBH
Mason was sensational in Robert Morris’ come-from-behind victory over Central Connecticut. The 6-foot-2 defensive lineman made eight tackles, including five solo stops, and set up Robert Morris’ game-winning touchdown with a strip sack. He also logged one pass break-up and two quarterback hurries. CCSU ball carriers combined for just 10 total yards on the eight plays that ended with tackles by Mason. With RMU trailing, 24-19, and under 5:00 remaining, Mason burst into the CCSU backfield, sacked the quarterback, jarred the ball loose and pounced on the fumble at the Blue Devils’ 13-yard line. Mason’s work wasn’t quite done though. With RMU protecting a 27-24 lead in the final 2:00, Mason caught the quarterback from behind on a scramble and pulled him down at the line of scrimmage inbounds. His stop kept the clock moving and brought first-year head coach John Banaszak closer to his first victory.
