WEEK 5 STATS: 5 total tackles (2 solo), 1.5 TFL, 1 PBU
The Blue Devils bottled up Rhody for much of their 38-14 victory and Celerin made key contributions to the effort. The veteran safety logged five total tackles, including 1.5 hits for a loss, and one pass break-up. He made a pair of stops in the first half as CCSU took a 10-0 lead into the break. Setting the tone for a stalwart defensive showing that limited the opposition to only 60 yards rushing, Celerin made a solo stop on Rhode Island’s first play from scrimmage as he dropped the ball carrier for a 3-yard loss. The safety broke up a 1st-and-10 pass play early in the fourth quarter, leading to a 3-and-out. He also made a tackle for no gain late in the first quarter, but did not receive credit for it because CCSU chose to accept a 10-yard holding penalty by URI on the play.
