Buechel moved up to second place on the NCAA FCS leader board in passing yards while engineering a 30-21 victory over Big South member Monmouth. Eclipsing the 300-yard mark for the third time in four games, the sophomore signal caller went 29-of-46 passing for 344 yards and two touchdowns. Both of Buechel’s touchdown passes went to Chris King, including a 55-yard scoring strike that tied the game at 7-7 midway through the opening quarter. The two hooked up again on a 6-yard touchdown that gave the Dukes a 21-7 lead 7:01 before halftime. Buechel, who averaged 7.5 yards per pass attempt, was intercepted once, but avoided being sacked. He also gained 14 yards on three rushes, finishing the game with a NEC single-game season-high 358 yards of total offense.
