LAST WEEK: 1 start, 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 5.0 IP, 2 H, 7 BB, 5 K
It was a tough spot for any pitcher to be in, especially a freshman, but Long rose to the occasion. With his team needing a win to remain alive in the race for the final NEC Tournament berth, Long twirled 5.0 scoreless innings against first-place Bryant. Facing the top-ranked hitting team in the NEC, he allowed only two hits in his 5.0 frames of work. The rookie righty worked through control issues, earning a 1-0 victory despite walking seven batters. The 6-foot-10 righty, who also plays varsity basketball at Wagner, upped his record to 3-3 and lowered his ERA to 2.98.
