Severino was a sparkplug for CCSU, leading the Blue Devils to a series victory that allowed Charlie Hickey’s club to clinch a NEC Tournament berth. The 6-foot-2 slugger recorded at least one hit and scored a run in each of Central’s four games against LIU Brooklyn. In four starts, including one on the mound, Severino batted .467 (7-for-15) with six RBI and four runs scored. The first baseman/pitcher tossed 8.0 innings from the bump while recording two hits, one RBI and one run at the plate in the series opener, a 4-2 setback. Severino singled to lead off the second inning and scored the Blue Devils’ first run in the first half of Saturday’s double dip, a 6-0 shutout win. His three-run bomb in the first inning of Game 3 accounted for the only scoring in CCSU’s 3-0 victory. He again wasted no time in making an offensive contribution in the series finale. His first-inning RBI single gave the Blue Devils a 2-0 lead en-route to a 10-1 win.
