Maxwell’s marvelous complete-game effort secured a series victory for LIU Brooklyn during the team’s final NEC home stand of the season. The rookie righty twirled 9.0 shutout innings to log a 5-0 victory in Sunday’s series finale. Maxwell was maximally efficient, needing only 80 pitches to nail down his fourth win of the season (8.9 pitches/inning). He did not walk a batter and allowed only three hits, all singles, on the way to a 0.33 WHIP for the week. The 6-foot-4 freshman traded zeros with FDU starter Joe Borelli for the first five innings until the Blackbirds pushed across a run for him in the sixth.
