Smith’s personal record back in early April was certainly no fluke. The veteran Pioneer launched another impressive throw on her way to winning the shot put competition at Yale’s first annual Mark Young Invitational this past weekend. Smith put the shot 14.88m (48’ 11”), a mark that is more than 1.25m better than the qualifying standard for the ECAC Championships. Although Smith’s latest performance was 10 centimeters short of her NEC-leading mark, it was still 1.42m better than the second-place occupant on the league leader board.
