Only 12 NCAA Division I throwers have hit the 71.00m mark in the javelin this outdoor season and Carper is one of them. The RMU senior easily won the Bennie Benson Memorial Invitational in Moon Township, PA by heaving the implement 71.09m. Carper, who set the NEC Outdoor Championship meet record last May, leads the league by more than 27 feet this spring. He ranks eighth overall on the NCAA Division I leader board while sitting sixth amongst the top performers in the East Region.
