The NEC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week award remains in New Britain, but moves from the long-distance unit into the middle-distance department. On his way to claiming the honor that teammate Craig Hunt (10,000m run) held last week, Biekert clocked in at 3:45.28 for the 1500m run at the Bucknell Bison Invitational. The time made him the second-fastest collegiate finisher at the meet, behind only Penn State’s Brannon Kidder. Biekert’s latest performance moves the third-year Blue Devil up to 12th on the NCAA East Region leader board and 31st overall in Division I. Biekert also appears to be a threat to the NEC Outdoor Championship meet record (3:49.19).
