Blandino came up big against defending NEC champion Bryant. The rookie right-hander prevented a Bulldogs’ series sweep by spinning a complete-game victory in Sunday’s series finale. Bryant was averaging 7.1 per runs per contest heading into Game 4 against CCSU, but Blandino limited the Bulldogs to only one run over 9.0 innings. The 6-foot-1 freshman fanned four batters and walked one in the 3-1 win. He allowed nine hits in the game, but only two (both singles) of them came after the fifth inning. Becoming stronger as the later innings arrived, Blandino retired the final seven batters he faced and 14 of the final 16 batters in the game.
